Dr. Erin Simmonds grew up in Victoria, BC and attended the University of Victoria where she completed a degree in Biology. From there, she moved to Saskatoon to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Her interest in emergency care began in veterinary school and she went on to do an emergency and critical care internship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Having confirmed her passion for intensive care medicine, she remained at AVETS in Pittsburgh and completed a 3-year emergency and critical care residency program in 2011. Erin is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
Erin is excited to be back in Victoria, after spending the past 7 years as a critical care specialist in Edmonton. She is a founding member of WAVES and is head of the critical care department.
She shares her house with 2 dogs (Fisher and Swing) and 2 cats (Wyatt and Trebble) and enjoys being outdoors and competing in dog agility. Erin, Fisher, and Swing are always exploring the many hiking trails and beaches Vancouver Island has to offer!
