Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine uses the body’s own cells and proteins to promote healing and includes stem cells and platelet rich plasma( PRP). Stem cells can be harvested from bone marrow and PRP from a simple blood collection and then are processed using specialized lab equipment. They are then injected into joints and soft tissues such as tendons and ligaments in the form of stem cells and/or platelet-rich-plasma. It is a new and emerging field that is continuing to show promise in enhancing surgical success as well as aid in cases where surgery is not indicated in combination with a good rehabilitation program for tendiopathies/strains/and sprains.
